Hi Yasmin, this was great to read. Even though, I am not a writer, I enjoyed the tips shared. What is your process for writing this newsletter. Do you find that there is less "pressure" for this sort of content to write? Does it come easier for you to write this and decide on the topics and themes?

Thank you so much Kristyn. I actually don't find there is less pressure for this newsletter. Each week I really want to give my readers value and so I work quite hard at it! My process at the moment is very fluid, I just take a theme that comes to me in a particular week but my newsletter is very new and I'm still working my way around it (with lots of self-doubt and a very active inner critic!)

I have only ever written for work, but more and more I feel an urge to write something more personal, I always reign it in, afraid of letting what out I don't know, I really have nothing to hide, just lots I want to share. Saving your post as inspiration to help me get started.

So glad you found it helpful. I think it’s great you are feeling the urge to write some more personal stuff - it feels very liberating to find your voice in that way. Maybe just write something without thinking of publishing for now. I did that for the grief essay I wrote for vogue a few years back. It felt so therapeutic to just write what I felt and then later I went back and edited to send it out. Good luck. And let me know if I can help I’m anyway!

Really enjoyed this newsletter! If I am ever feeling like your friend, I try to remind myself there really is no substitute for just doing. Even if progress is slow sometimes, the only way to write something is to actually write it! I also loved one of Julia Camerons other books, Write for life. It's a great read and super motivating!

Thank Louise! I’ve never read Cameron’s other books but you’ve inspired me to do so. You are right, even if progress is slow, little by little we get there. Thanks for your inspiring words!

Some great advice here. Especially agree about not telling people your ideas too early - I did this with a very fledgling draft of a novel and the feedback killed it off. It has to be big enough and robust enough to survive in the wild!

Thanks Jennie. Urgh - so sorry you had that experience with a novel. I’ve had it with projects too. I find it helpful to remember that life is long and projects come back at another stage if they are meant too. You are such a great writer. I can’t wait to see what you create next x

Thank you - you’re kind. (And this particular novel was a few years ago now, so I’ve made my peace with it!) X
