Great tips, thanks! I'm very impatient with frying onions so appreciate the encouragement. Is the goal with longer cooking time to caramelize the onions, or at least start that process? Is that where the dept if flavourful comes from?
I know, i'm the same, but it's always worth it. I'm not sure of the exact science of it and you don't need to get them to the state of caramelizing them (as I think that takes 30-40 minutes) but rather just lose their moisture and firmness so they are soft and their flavour has intensified.
Lovely stuff Yasmin, the stew looks delicious and I am so into the onion idea. Also with you on spending less time on Instagram and more time on here, it feels so much more meaningful and honest. x
Really useful post, Yasmin! Frying onions ahead is a really good idea - I get an in-season veg box every couple of weeks and right now it's overflowing wi onions from store.
Totally with you on the reels subject. I canāt stand them. Much prefer nice pictures and attached recipes. Thanks for the stew one. Iām in that phase of not feeling like cooking especially since the kids and lodgers have gone and we have downsized. Cooking for 2 is not fun...
It can be so hard to feel motivated in those times, I totally know what you mean. Take it easy on yourself, the cooking motivation will return eventually.

Thank you! Every time I do it in advance I thank myself for it later. They keep so well in the fridge too.
